According to Highway Patrol, two children and an elderly man were killed in a three-car accident near Whiteville around 10 p.m. Friday. The investigation continues into the shooting death of a Columbus County man Monday night. The Columbus County Sheriff's Office says an autopsy in Raleigh yesterday determined Livis Charles Owens, Jr., died of a single gunshot wound that entered around his right shoulder and exited his body near his left shoulder.
