Pender County has shown the biggest improvement over the last year. The unemployment rate has dropped 2.4 points percent drop over the course of a year to 10.0 percent. That tied with two other counties for the second biggest drop in the entire state since November 2011. Full story...

North Carolina's unemployment rate dropped slightly in November from a month earlier as the state gained nearly 35,000 new jobs. The state Commerce Department released figures Friday showing that the rate dropped to 9.1 percent from 9.3 percent in October. Full story...
