We also traveled to Hampstead to check in on Topsail baseball and softball teams. Both squads are state ranked. The North Carolina Tar Heels earned a spot in the ACC finals with a victory over NC State on Saturday in Atlanta. UNC will face Florida State on Sunday. The Seminoles beat Duke. This is only the the second appearance for Florida State in the ACC men's basketball finals. Full story...

On Thursday night we featured first round action from the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament in Maryland. UNCW defeated Georgia State to advance to the quarterfinals. On Thursday we also checked in with the ACC Men's Basketball Tournament. Former New Hanover slugger Jordan Betts hit his first home run of the season on Tuesday for Duke, but Campbell beat the Blue Devils in college baseball. NC State shutout UNCW in college baseball. The Wolfpack scored all ten of their runs in the same inning. On Tuesday two private schools in Wilmington ended their high school basketball season with playoff losses. Full story...

NC State is starting to slide back into the national limelight. The Wolfpack will open the 2012 football season on Friday, August 31 in Atlanta at The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. It's the first of two marquee games in Atlanta that weekend. Clemson will play the following day. Full story...

On Wednesday night we showcased highlights and the dramatic finish from the UNCW-Toledo men's basketball game. The Rockets downed the Seahawks by two points when a desperation shot at the buzzer from UNCW missed. We also featured high school basketball action from Ashley.
