WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A City of Wilmington spokeswoman said they hope to reopen a downtown road in the next couple of days after bricks fell from a building last week.
Malissa Talbert said the short-term repairs at the Cape Fear Hotel Apartments were completed over the weekend, but they continue long-term repairs, which has left part of 2nd Street closed. She said some residents were evacuated when the incident first happened and some have returned to their homes. Some residents are still out of their homes, but Talbert didn’t have an exact number of those affected.
She said they hope to reopen the area to pedestrians either tonight or tomorrow and reopen the road in the next few days.
