WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Today Gunner Robinson turned 11. For the past few years, the Wilmington boy hasn’t asked for birthday presents, instead, he’s asked for shoes. Shoes he could donate to children in the community who are in need. We recently told you about his Gunner’s Runners campaign, which went viral.
His mom, Kristi Robinson, says so far, they have 94 pairs of shoes in hand, but she still has to go collect shoes from two other drop off sites in the area. She’s also received $200 in donations to go buy shoes, which she hopes to do within the next couple of days. Robinson says the campaign this year has been very successful.
The shoes will be given to social workers in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties, who will then get them to the children who need them.
