Pastor of Wilmington church charged with assault

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The pastor of a Wilmington church is out of jail after being charged with assaulting a woman.
According to a warrant, Leland Police charged Micah D. Wright, 39, with felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor assault on a female.
The warrant says Wright scraped and scratched the woman while strangling her with his hands Tuesday and twisted her arm.

He is out of jail under $2,500 bond, according to a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Reached by phone this evening, Wright said he had no comment.
According to the NC Department of Public Safety website, Wright was sentenced to probation in 2006 for felonious restraint and misdemeanor assault on a female.
