WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office dress auction scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled.

According to Lt. Jerry Brewer the plaintff, the owner of Isabella Grape Boutique, has filed for bankruptcy.

Three thousand dresses worth hundreds of thousand of dollars were set for auction this weekend following a civil lawsuit.

Brewer said it is all because the owner of Isabella Grape Boutique has a judgement against her for more than $100,000.

“They owe money and they have property,” Brewer said. “We can seize that property.”

Brewer said normally when this happens, deputies are auctioning off vehicles or equipment.
