WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead.
The call came in just before 12:00 p.m. Police also received a ShotSpotter alert at the same time.
Wilmington Police spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay says when police arrived, they found man in the 900 block of Campbell Street who had been shot. He died at the scene.
People in the neighborhood, like Gloria Williams, say it is a sad situation and one she is tired of seeing happen in their community.
“I would like to see our old neighborhood back again, quiet and peaceful. No violence. No drugs,” Williams said. “I just pray that it stops. Because it’s dangerous living in a neighborhood like this. It makes you want to move out.”
Hours after the deadly shooting Wilmington Police and a SWAT team showed up to a house on 11th and Campbell searching for someone. The person they were looking for was not at the home but they did serve a search warrant.
Right now Lindsay can’t comment on whether the two incidents are connected.
There is still no word yet on any suspects.
