Cape Fear Community College president resigns after less than 3 years

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College President Dr. Amanda Lee announced Thursday evening that she has decided to resign.

Lee had been the president for less than three years. CFCC’s Board of Trustees announced Lee’s resignation which is effective December 31.

Executive President Jim Morton will serve as interim president starting January 1, 2018.

“I have valued my time at Cape Fear Community College, and I am thankful for all of the opportunities provided to me over the years,” said Lee. “I am confident that the College will continue to serve as a leader in higher education.”

“The College will benefit immensely by Mr. Morton’s willingness to step into this role,” said Mr. Mat White, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “He will provide steady and consistent leadership, so the College can continue to serve our students and our community. Our faculty, staff, and Trustees have great respect for Mr. Morton.”

Dr. Lee first joined Cape Fear Community College as an instructor in 2003. She then served as the College’s Vice President for Instructional Services and later as its Interim President prior to accepting the role of President in 2015.
