WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College faculty, staff, students, and alumni have helped to raise almost $5,500 for Bob Brennan, a history instructor in need of a double lung transplant, all in less than two days.

Brennan, who has taught at CFCC for 20 years, has cystic fibrosis, a degenerative lung disease that he has managed through medicine and exercise until this year when he was diagnosed with End Stage Lung Disease and given 6 months to live unless he gets a transplant.

The operation will cost $1.2 million, most of which is covered by insurance, but Brennan needs to raise a total of $40,000 to cover out-of-pocket expenses related to the surgery and recovery.
