BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office have detained the man who allegedly fired shot inside and out of a home as Mackenzie Brisson, 20.
Investigators say Brisson was barricaded inside his house on Paul Brisson Road just outside of Dublin. They say he has fired multiple shots.
He was found in his pickup truck that located in the garage. He has been transported to the hospital for an evaluation. There were no injuries during the armed standoff.
Sheriff Jim McVicker says family members told deputies there was an altercation at the home, and that Brisson had been going through some emotional problems. Family members who were in the home got out safely.
“When the deputies arrived, they felt that firearms were involved,” McVicker said. “They backed up and called for assistance, and that’s when it all started. And to my knowledge, he has fired several rounds inside the house, he’s fired several rounds outside the house, but not at any one person. He has not fired at any officers.”
All schools nearby, including Bladen Community College were on lockdown. Sheriff McVicker says deputies were at Bladen Community College, West Bladen High School and Dublin Primary. The schools dismissed at normal time. BCC canceled all evening classes.
Several people who live nearby were notified by law enforcement about the shooting. Some were told to stay in their homes, others who lived close to the home were told to leave.
The Sheriff’s Office called in a SWAT team from Cumberland County. A negotiator is on the scene now. McVicker also said deputies would send a robot into the home to check on Brisson.
Highway 410 and Paul Brisson Road are blocked. Pleasant Grove Church Road near Bladen Community College is also blocked off.
