WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Southeastern North Carolina MLK Jr. annual Celebration Committee held their annual fundraising dinner as a part their week long events.
The event tonight was held at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside Hotel.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “life is a gift, living is to serve.”
Dozens showed up to participate and listen to one of the guest speakers Dr. James Anderson the Chancellor of Fayetteville State University, who said he was excited to share how people can continue to take steps in keeping Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream alive.
“The first way you do it is internally, you convince yourself that you can actually make a difference in the world. I used this line earlier in my talk when I said everyday you walk the face of the earth say to yourself I can make a difference,” Anderson said.
WWAY’s very own Amanda Fitzpatrick was also apart of this event as the mistress of ceremony.
