WPD: Wilmington man dies after breaking into several homes

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man accused of breaking into several homes, landing him in the Intensive Care Unit, has died.

Wilmington Police say William Tyler Tuttle, 29, was under the influence when he left his vehicle running in the middle of 15th and Market streets around 3:00 a.m. Friday.

Police say Tuttle then broke into several homes in the 1800 block of Princess Street and Chestnut Street. He also attempted to break into Saint John’s Church at 16th and Market Street.

When he then attempted to break into two houses in the 1500 block of Princess Street he hurt himself on a glass window, according to police.

Police found Tuttle in the streets and gave him first aid. EMS transported Tuttle to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was placed in the ICU due to his injuries.



A WPD spokeswoman said later Friday that Tuttle died from those injuries.
