Holden Beach Police, Coastline Rescue Squad, and Tri-Beach Fire officials reported to the scene and found a man who was pulled by a surfer from the ocean.

Robinson says CPR was being performed when officials arrived. Brunswick County EMS transported the 20-year-old man to Novant Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia. Robinson says the man died at the hospital.

The surfer who rescued the man was also transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Robinson reports this was the second drowning in Brunswick County Saturday, with the first happening in Sunset Beach. He says a man in his 40’s drowned while trying to help another person who was struggling in the water.
