VIDEO: Wilmington fire truck drags hose along busy road, damages multiple cars


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Dashcam video shared with WWAY shows a hose dragging behind a firetruck as it responded to a call in Wilmington Tuesday afternoon.

It happened near Independence Boulevard and Carolina Beach Road around 1:45 Tuesday afternoon.

Wilmington Fire Department Spokeswoman Rebekah Thurston said Engine 7 was responding to a structure fire when the crosslay for the hose came loose. She said the hose fell out and hit eight vehicles.

Thurston said no injuries were reported. Owners of five of the vehicles remained at the scene to report damage. The other three left because there was no reportable damage.

No one got hurt.

Wilmington police filed a report.
