UPDATE: Brunswick commissioners approve new deal for old hospital

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Commissioners have approved a lease-purchase agreement for the old Brunswick Community Hospital.

Crown Management Group will take on the five-year agreement totaling $1.5 million, paying the majority of the amount at the end of the lease.

Crown will pay the county one dollar a year and then $1,499,995 at the end of the lease to complete the sale. Crown will pay the county a $20,000 down payment and $20,000 each year of the lease.

Crown will also assume full responsibility for all utility and energy costs and building and ground maintenance. To assist with that, the county will give Crown all rental income from medical suites, which is currently about $74,000 a year.

The county put the building on the market when the hospital closed and moved to the new Brunswick Novant Medical Center up the road last summer.
