25th annual Take Back the Night

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 25th annual ‘Take Back the Night’ march and rally was in Downtown Wilmington Thursday night.

The goal for the night was to raise awareness and remember victims of domestic violence. Supports say the March helps support and empower the survivors of domestic violence.

This year’s theme was ‘Building Bridges for 25 Years’, which the rally’s organizer said is fitting.

“It’s really what a bridge represents,” said Jennie Thomason, “A bridge is something that offers support, when needed or offers a pathway to a better life, or a better place, and that’s a lot about what we do.”

The event was a success, with twice as many people as last year.

If you or a loved one is a victim of domestic violence call the Domestic Violence and Shelter Services in Wilmington.
