Barfield, Casteen to meet in US House candidate debate Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — WWAY NewsChannel 3 and HQR News 91.3 FM are hosting another candidate forum Monday. This time for the US House 7th District race to see who will replace Rep. Mike McIntyre in Washington.

The debate will be broadcast live here on WWAYTV3.com and 91.3 FM at 7 p.m.

Democrat Jonathan Barfield and Libertarian Wesley Casteen will take part in the debate. Republican David Rouzer has chosen not to participate. His campaign says he has other commitments. Despite not having all the candidates, WWAY and WHQR have decided to move forward with the debate to give voters a chance to hear from as many candidates as possible.

There are several ways you can be involved in the debate. You can e-mail your questions to coastline@whqr.org. Submissions must be in the form of a question applicable to both candidates. No statements allowed. Questions must fit within a 30-second time limit.

You can also be part of the live studio audience for the debate Monday night in the M.C. Erny Gallery at WHQR at 254 N. Front St. in downtown Wilmington. Doors close at 6:55 p.m., so please arrive early to ensure you have a seat.
