One dead, 4 hurt in Raleigh pedestrian bridge collapse
RALEIGH (WTVD) — One person was killed and four hurt when a pedestrian bridge under construction on Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus collapsed Thursday morning.
It happened in the 7000 block of Success Way. All of the hurt are construction workers. There were no students involved.
The hurt men were rushed to WakeMed for treatment where there conditions were not immediately known.
Workers were apparently pouring concrete when the accident happened. Emergency officials said it appeared one section of the 250-foot-long bridge dropped approximately 40 feet to the ground below.
