Community gathers to celebrate Superintendent Edward Pruden

SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) — Tonight friends, family, colleagues, parents and students gathered in Supply to honor Brunswick County Schools Superintendent Edward Pruden.

Pruden says the reception came as a surprise to him. He says when he was invited to the event he was very touched that the community would gather to show their support of Brunswick County Schools.

Earlier this month the School Board voted to remove Pruden, who had previously said he planned to leave when his contract ends at the end of June. Instead this is his last week on the job.

Pruden says he will not be retiring and will continue looking for his next mission in administration.
