Police: Robber forces way into woman’s hotel room, steals phone

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a robber forced his way into a woman’s Wilmington hotel room last night, stole her cell phone out of her pocket and took off running.

Wilmington Police say it happened just before 6 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn at 5107 Market Street. That’s where officers say the man knocked on the door of her hotel room. They say the victim told them the man forced his way in when she opened the door.

Officers say the man then reached into the woman’s pocket and took her cell phone before he took off running from the scene. Police say the woman then went to the lobby of the hotel to call 911. WPD is investigating, and say no one was hurt.
