BOLIVIA, NC (StarNews) — Brunswick County Commissioners voted 3-2 Monday to proceed with the $3.5 million purchase of nearly 35 acres for a nature park near Holden Beach, despite threats of legal action by county residents.
It was the second time the commissioners had voted to buy the property.
Commissioners voted 4-1 Nov. 12 to buy the land from Sweetwater Investments LLC, a company once owned by Commissioners Chairman Phil Norris. Commissioner Pat Sykes cast the dissenting vote, saying the money could have been better spent elsewhere.
