FIRST ON 3: Suspect in fire that killed two charged

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A judge today denied bond for a man accused of setting a fire that killed two people in Wilmington last month.

Wilmington Police today charged Harry Levert Davis, 23, of Wilmington, with two counts of first degree murder, one count of first degree arson and three counts of attempted murder. Police say Davis set a fire Dec. 23 at 1901 Lingo St., that killed Pamela Pickett, 51, and Makayla Pickett, 14. A funeral for the two was held today.

Police say Davis was arrested by after a brief chase on Dec. 24 in Wilmington for unrelated charges. According to the New Hanover County Jail website, had been in jail since then on charges of domestic violence, speeding to elude arrest, reckless driving and driving while license revoked.
