Wilmington City Council approves new police equipment

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — City Council approved new tools for the Wilmington Police Department, and it won’t cost taxpayers a dime.

Wilmington Police are getting satellite phones which will be a back up system in case of an emergency. Drug money will pay for the new phones.

Police will also get new digital recording equipment which includes small, covert body cameras. Asset forfeiture cash will pay for that equipment.
