WPD: Man walking home from downtown bar robbed at gunpoint
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a man who was walking home from a downtown bar was robbed at gunpoint by a group of men in a car early Wednesday.
Wilmington Police say just before 1:30 a.m., the victim was walking in the 300 block of South 3rd Street when he noticed a car with several men inside driving slowly behind him. They say the car then pulled over on Ann Street, and one of the occupants asked the man a question.
Officers say when the victim didn’t answer and kept walking, one of the passengers got out of the car and pulled out a silver handgun, pointing it at the man. Police say the robbers stole the victim’s wallet and phone before taking off.
Police say the victim told them the man who got out of the car is described as a black male in his 20s, who is about 6′ tall. They say the man was wearing a white hoodie at the time of the crime, and that the driver has dreadlocks. Officers say the suspect’s vehicle is an older model white or grey car. WPD is investigating.
