Wilmington, New Hanover County might join forces on public utilities

WILMINGTON — They’ve talked about it for years and now it may finally become reality. New Hanover County and the City of Wilmington could be joining forces on public utilities.

Representatives from both entities met at Wilmington City Hall Tuesday and discussed the possibility of creating the Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority.

A City public hearing on the issue is slated for next Tuesday.

The County Commission’s public hearing is scheduled for May 21.
