Police: Woman in crash charged with careless & reckless driving

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating a Wilmington crash they say sent two to the hospital, one of which is charged with careless and reckless driving.

Wilmington Police say the accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Independence Boulevard. That’s where officers say Mary Kropp, 38, of Wilmington was driving her Honda Civic southbound when she crossed over the median.

Police say she slammed into another Honda Civic driving northbound on Independence Blvd. They say an 18-year-old female, who was driving the car Kropp ran into, was taken to the hospital for injuries in the crash. Police say firefighters had to remove the roof of Kropp’s car to get her out before she was also taken to the hospital.

Officers say Kropp is charged with careless and reckless driving, which police say left both cars badly damaged. Police say more charges could be coming in connection to the crash as WPD continues investigating.
