Tall ship named after Prince William to come to Wilmington

WILMINGTON (AP) — A tall ship named after a British prince is coming to Wilmington next week.

The Prince William will dock in Wilmington on Monday before heading to Norfolk, Virginia, on Thursday.

It's 195 feet long with two masts and has sails that could cover eight tennis courts.

The ship is participating in the Tall Ships Challenge, a series of races and festivals from Charleston, South Carolina to Nova Scotia, Canada.

A British organization, The Tall Ships Youth Trust, owns the ship. The group takes young people on sea voyages and teaches them about sailing.
