WPD investigating armed robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department are searching for a suspect accused of robbing a man at gunpoint.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of South 8th Street. Investigators say the victim, a 39-year-old man, was walking when he was called by a man in an old green van. The victim says the man told him he had something for him, pulled out a black handgun and told the victim to empty his pockets.

The victim was not injured in the incident; police say cash was taken.

There were no other details about the van. The suspect is described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years of age and possibly 150-170 pounds.
