Police arrest armed duo for Dec. gas station kidnapping, robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say two men are behind bars for a crime that happened back in December, when two people at the pump were forced to drive the armed duo to a bank to withdraw cash.

Wilmington Police say Taron Robinson, 18, and Teon Clark, 19, are each charged with two counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny of a firearm.

The charges come after they say Robinson and Clark were armed when they approached two people at a pump at the Shell gas station on N. 3rd Street on December 15. Police say one of the two forced the person pumping gas back into the car, while the other got into the car with the passenger inside.

Officers say the duo demanded that the victims drive to a bank on Randall Parkway, where they withdrew money. After they got the cash they wanted and stole a gun from inside the victim’s car, the men asked to be dropped off at an area behind New Hanover High School.

Police say Robinson was arrested by US Marshals Tuesday, and he is now booked in the New Hanover County Jail under $100,000 secured bond. Clark was arrested by deputies for a probation violation last week, and he is in jail under $550,000 bond.
