Kids’ College at Cape Fear Community College
A field trip to a rock quarry and growing bacteria in a science lab doesn’t sound like typical summer school. But that’s what this week’s Cape Fear Community College’s Kids’ College is all about. All this week kids ages eight through 16 will learn about a variety of sciences including Biology and Health Science.
The goal is to offer a hands-on experience that sparks an interest in science for the youngsters.
Microbiology instructor Kevin Kiser said,”Maybe this is a way of encouraging them to look into careers in science and see what’s out there. Hopefully we can find some things that will pique their interest and keep them interested or amused.”
During their week of college, the kids will also learn about Chemistry, fitness, and Geology. The rock quarry field trip will be on Thursday to enhance the Geology lesson.
