2 charged with murder of homeless man

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people are in jail tonight after being arrested on second degree murder charges.

Police responded to an assault call around 3:45 a.m. at a homeless camp near Carolina Beach Road and Medical Center Drive behind the Hess station. A 51-year-old man was found dead at the scene.

Stacy Wayne Brown, 47, and Joy Nicole Hood, 32, have been taken into custody by WPD for that murder.

Each suspect is in the New Hanover County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
