Deadly fires suspect indicted by grand jury
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A grand jury has indicted the man accused of setting a string of deadly fires in early December.
Marshall Hudson Doran, 22, is charged in the murders of Darlene Maslar, 43, and Mary Cochran, 72. The two women died in the fire at 409 Carolina Beach Ave. South in early December. That was the first of three fires that night. The second fire was called in at 3:45 a.m. at 811 Carolina Beach Ave. The third fire was called in at 4:34 a.m. at 1123 South Lake Park Blvd.
On Monday, a grand jury returned indictments on the following charges: first degree murder (two counts), attempted first degree murder (11 counts), assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill (10 counts), assault with a deadly weapon to inflict serious injury (one count), first degree arson (two counts), breaking or entering a motor vehicle (three counts), larceny after breaking or entering a motor vehicle (one count), cruelty to animals (three counts), burning of personal property (three counts) and misdemeanor larceny (two counts).
Court documents will be available for review later this week.
