UPDATE: Arrests made in connection with deadly home invasion
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have made two arrests in connection with an early evening home invasion that ended with one man killed and a woman injured.
Police arrested Tyler Greenfield (pictured), 18, and Kyon Sampson Jones. Both are charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and attempted armed robbery.
Police say the home invasion happened around 8:00 P.M. Monday at 211 Queen Street. Police responded after a 911 call was made.
According to the 911 call, five or six shots were heard by neighbors, followed by screaming. Another neighbor described an argument in the apartment before the shooting, but there was a gap in time between the argument and incident. The neighbor could also hear a vehicle leaving the area quickly following the shooting.
Police say a man was shot during the incident; he later died from his injuries. A woman was also injured but is expected to recover, police said. Investigators have not released the identities of the victims.
The investigation is ongoing.
