N.C. Guard troops returning tonight from Kuwait

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. (AP) — Dozens of soldiers from the North Carolina National Guard's 730th Quartermaster battalion are scheduled to come home tonight from Kuwait.

The nearly 60 soldiers of the Ahoskie-based unit were mobilized in April 2006. They provided logistical support for more than 100-thousand US troops as they deployed to Iraq and returned home through Camp Virginia in Kuwait.

Spokesman Major Matt Handley says once the soldiers are greeted at Pope Air Force Base by their family members they will complete the task of processing out before going home.
