Bids are in for Sunset Beach Bridge

The bids are in for the new Sunset Beach Bridge and the news is not good.

The bids for the bridge are all too high.

Transportation officials say the lowest bid for construction of the new bridge came in more than 17 percent higher than the state’s estimate of what the construction should cost.

That most likely means the bids will be rejected.
