Winter Weather Advisory issued for Cape Fear region

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the entire viewing area.

The advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday. Meteorologists are forecasting the possibility for a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The timing of this storm is still in flux, but expect the precipitation to start around daybreak and taper off Tuesday afternoon. The threat of frozen precipitation has forced area schools to announce closings and delays. Click here for the latest list.
