WPD admits address on search warrant wrong

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say an early morning drug raid led to two arrests after searching five addresses, but one of them, they admit, was the wrong address.

New Hanover County deputies were assisting WPD with one of these search warrants in the Willow Ponds apartment complex around 7 a.m. when they knocked down the door of the wrong address. Investigators said a woman was inside at the time and forced to the ground; that woman refused EMS at the scene, deputies said.

Police say Antonio Herring, 56, and Antonio Shufford, 35, were arrested during the raid and are both facing multiple drug charges. Herring was arrested at a home in the 1500 block of Kennedy plaza; Shufford was arrested in the 300 block of South 6th Street, police said.

Police say more than 22 grams of crack cocaine were seized along with drug paraphernalia and more than $2,000. Investigators say the investigation lasted four months.

Deputies from the Brunswick and New Hanover County Sheriff’s Departments assisted in the searches.
