Man wanted for attempted murder turns self in

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A local man wanted for attempted murder turned himself in to authorities Monday evening.

New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies say Mark Ackerman turned himself in around 5:30 Monday.

Investigators say Ackerman stabbed Ronald Darden more than two dozens times at his Castle Hayne home in June.

Darden was released from the hospital about two weeks ago.
