Propane tank, space heater to blame for house fire
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A propane tank caused an explosion Monday afternoon, setting fire to a house at 477 Golden Road.
The back porch and the roof over the kitchen of the house were most severely damaged by the fire, first reported at 12:42 p.m. The house is near the corner of Carolina Beach Road and Golden Road.
Fire crews told WWAY on scene a man was attempting to fill a propane tank when the incident happened. He told us one of the tanks was leaking, which caused an explosion by a space heater that was inside the screened in porch. He only suffered minor burns and didn’t seek treatment.
Heather Stanley told the StarNews three separate explosions rocked her husband’s parents’ home. Stanley said no one was injured in the fire.
