Ga. teen gets minor scrapes, bruises in six-story fall
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Matthew Savage was trying to help a Raleigh woman retrieve her son's bathing suit. The good news is that he lived to tell about it.
The Gainesville, Georgia, teenager fell six stories from a hotel balcony trying to help Tracy Weeks catch the swimsuit after it had fluttered down from the 11th floor.
Savage hit other balconies on his way down and slammed onto a slanted rooftop covering the Tropical Winds' lazy river. He slid off that roof into the bushes.
After he landed in the bushes, he got up and started walking back to his room. But paramedics strapped him to a board and flew him to a nearby hospital for an examination. He said a full body scan and other tests showed he was OK.
Weeks says it was the worst nightmare of her life, so much so that she couldn't sleep.
