WPD: Group of men jumps, robs man walking down street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a group of men jumped and robbed a man who was walking down a Wilmington street early Wednesday.

Wilmington Police say it happened just before 2:30 a.m. in the area of the 1000 block of Chestnut Street. That’s where they say the 28-year-old victim told them he was walking when a group of four or five young men jumped him.

Officers say the robbers stole cash and a cell phone from the man before they took off. Though the victim had no visible injuries, police say he complained about pain in his ribs. WPD is still investigating the crime.
