State Board of Education to vote on future of SEGS Academy
RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — Today the Office of Charter Schools presented the State Board of Education with the Charter School Advisory Board’s recommendation that the charter for SEGS Academy in Delco be revoked.
SEGS Academy has had a history of financial crisis for the two years it’s been open. School officials say they have been working to solve the problems of the past and would like a second chance.
SEGS Academy sent their petitions to keep the school open to Raleigh. They also included a letter from the former Board Chair acknowledging its role in past problems and expressing the intent to dissolve the old board and create a new one. Those documents were also presented today.
The State Board of Education will vote tomorrow on what course of action should be taken.
