CFCC knocks BCC out of the Region X Women’s Basketball Tournament

SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Community College women’s basketball team won their quarterfinal game on Thursday against arch-rival Brunswick Community College 65-58. The CFCC Sea Devils will face Louisburg on Friday in the semifinals at 5pm on Friday on Brunswick Community College campus. The season is now over for BCC.

Tori Florence led CFCC with 17 points on Thursday. Kristina Rumplasch scored 16.

SUPPLY, NC (CFCC RELEASE) — Cape Fear Community College picked up a 65-58 victory over Brunswick Community College in the quarterfinals of the Region X Women’s Basketball Tournament in Bolivia on Thursday night.

Facing each other for the third time this season, the Sea Devils earned a sweep over its conference rivals and extended their win streak to nine games in a row as the No. 12 team in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II rankings.

Tori Florence led the way with 17 points and Kristina Rumplasch, reigning NJCAA DII Player of the Week, added 16 in the result.

The Sea Devils are 25-5 overall and moved to 6-1 on neutral courts this season. Cape Fear faces the winner of No. 3 Louisburg/No. 6 Lenoir in the tournament semifinals on Friday. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
