Whiteville man to head up DMV

Gov. Mike Easley has promoted a Whiteville man to head up the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Former Chief Superior Court Judge Bill Gore Jr. was one of the youngest judges elected to district court in North Carolina. He served in Bladen and Columbus Counties before retiring from the bench at the end of last month.

His appointment to the role of DMV commissioner is effective immediately.
