NEW DETAILS: Police still investigating weekend shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Wilmington Police are still investigating a weekend shooting after they say officers stopped the victim leaving the area in a car.

Police say they first got ShotSpotter alerts in the 400 block of Barclay Hills Drive just before midnight Saturday. Soon after, officers say they stopped a car leaving the area and found the shooting victim inside.

The 26-year-old man told police he was near 406 Barclay Hills Drive when he heard two to three shots, and noticed he was hit in the knee area and foot. Officers say the victim was unable to provide a description of the suspect.

Police say the man was taken to the hospital by EMS crews, and WPD is still investigating.
