Local production wins Comedy Central contest

WILMINGTON — A local production team gets some nationwide recognition…

“Super Sam” — a test pilot, originally made for the local Final Cut film festival — won a Comedy Central contest.

A four-man production group from Wilmington, Hank and Jed Movie Pictures, created the show. The five minute test pilot was one of four Comedy Central finalists.

“Super Sam” is about a small town super hero whose best friend is a villain. The pilot’s creators say they are looking forward to where this win might take them.

Nate Panning and Brent Triplett said, “We’re all very excited about winning this competition. I don’t know where it’s going to take us yet, I don’t know if we get to quit our day jobs just yet, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction and it’s a shoe into Comedy Central. It’s something, it’s definitely something.”

“Super Sam” will air on Comedy Central some time in early September. The winners also get $5,000.
