Meeting to discuss plans for Shallotte riverfront
SHALLOTTE — Monday night the Shallotte Riverfront Revitalization plan was be shown to the public for input. The town has created two concept maps for the riverfront.
Both concepts feature plans for restaurants, retail shops and even homes. Shallotte Mayor Walter Eccard says these are two of the possibilities for the project, but he wants the public to come with their own ideas.
"We never think that we have all the answers and getting the public's input will very often, at least it will tonight, give us new incites and new ways to make this project better," Eccard said.
Some of the concerns about the project include its environmental impact, creating more traffic and how it will be financed.
Town leaders will be accepting comments on the project for the next month.
