82nd paratrooper killed in Iraq

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) — The 82nd Airborne Division says a paratrooper has died following a roadside bomb blast in Iraq.

The Fort Bragg-based soldier was 20-year-old Specialist Donavan Witham of Malvern, Arkansas. The vehicle he was in detonated the bomb Tuesday near Baghdad.

Witham was a military police officer and was a member of the 73rd Cavalry Regiment.

Witham is survived by his mother and stepfather. A memorial service will be held by his unit in Iraq.
