Police investigating shooting outside Wilmington barber shop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a man fired shots at another man just outside a Wilmington barber shop Tuesday afternoon.

Wilmington Police say it happened just after 1 p.m. at 1306 Dock Street, which matches the address for Mirror Image Barber Shop. Officers say an unknown man entered the shop asking for services not long before a black SUV pulled up in front of the business.

Police say when a black man in a red shirt got out of the SUV and approached the shop, the man inside took off out of a side door. That’s when officers say the man in the red shirt fired shots at the other man as he tried to get away.

Officers say a nearby unoccupied car was hit by a bullet as both men ran from the scene in opposite directions. Police say the man who was shot at was picked up by a gray car, but they do not believe he was hit during the shooting.

WPD is still investigating.
